MCI began its quest of providing technology solutions to the insurance industry with the first in-agency online time-sharing system. Agents connected thru a vast array of telephone lines, modems, and multiplexers to our central mainframe computer. This innovative solution offered a tremendous boost to P&C agencies whose only alternative at the time was a batch processing system.

MCI expanded its market with the development of a full-function, multi-user minicomputer system that permitted larger customers to go “in-house” with their data processing.

MCI took a leap of technological faith with the introduction of the industry’s first microcomputer-based agency accounting system based on our highly successful time-sharing service product.

We redesigned our microcomputer product to run on the new IBM platform and eventually to Novell-based network systems.

Introduced Omni+, a network-based product with a full-featured underwriting and policy issuance processor seamlessly tied into our complete accounting system.

MCI announced its Microsoft Windows-based version of Omni+.

We reached 150 customers.

With our 7th generation, we introduced functions that facilitate the electronic transfer of bordereaux information and provided a SQL database to facilitate specific reporting and data extraction needs.

An enhanced Contact Management system was released for Omni7 which provided the ability to store a large amount of contact information so that our customers can keep in touch with all contacts easily and efficiently.

We added a document storage system, enabling customers to become paperless easily and cost-effectively. Also introduced a new suspense/calendar/reminder system that ensures that work properly flows from task to task and person to person on every risk.

Omni 8 introduced as the industry’s most comprehensive productivity tool.

Omni 8 rollout begins.

Omni began interfacing with 3rd-party web services for underwriting, payment, and rating services, which increased automation and eliminated rekeying of data.

Omni data became available on the web as part of the new OmniPortal product.  Features are fully integrated with Omni8 data so that Agents can access real-time production reports, policy information and statistics, statements and make online payments via a secure website.

As MCI enters its 50th year of creating solutions for the insurance world, newly enhanced Policy Processing is released to complete the Omni8 upgraded experience.
